997 turbo - brief loud squealing engine noise

uh-oh

Car was ticking over whilst in a hand car wash place, and heard a loud squealing noise from engine, no idea where from exactly as it lasted 3-4 seconds, then did it again a minute later. Drove home carefully but it was fine after that. It has done it once or twice before over last 6 months but again only lasted a few seconds and disappeared.

Car goes in for a service next week, so will mention it - but anyone got any ideas please?

Possibly the drive belt slipping. Nothing too serious and easily rectified at the service

Happens to mine after I have just washed it don't worry it's just water getting on belts via the engine vents usually it's the PAS belts , couple of revs dries off any water that's sat on belts.

Thanks - even better if it's due to a temporary dampness and no spend required, will get them to check at device anyway

Ive had 7 x 911's two of which have been turbos and both did the squeaky belt thing when wet / or after having been washed . My local opc says they have tried everything over the years to remedy this on various turbos without success . In the end I lived with it.....although I was less than impressed wit it.

It doesn't bother me as it is infrequent and passes quickly, as long as it a simple issue and nothing serious

it's just water on the drive belts, it will happen in any car if water gets on them.
