Any doc's in? Have burst my ear drum

My ear drum burst on Tuesday due to an ear infection (my god, the pain was immense).

Since it burst there has been a constant trickle of fluid. I thought it would have stopped by now but it just keeps coming which is becoming a bit of an inconvenience.

How long does it usually take for the fluid to stop? I imagine the drum won't start healing and I won't get my hearing back until it is dry and the fluid has gone. BTW I do have an appointment with my GP but not until Wednesday.

Not a doctor but when mine burst (and yes, it was he most painful feeling ever!) it took weeks to stop leaking.

All you can do it keep it dry (Ear plugs when showering, etc) and wait.

Thanks for the reply, how long did it take for your hearing to come back?

I think it started to come back after 2 weeks, and came back fully at about 3. No idea if that's normal or not but the doctor didn't seem arsed so i'm assuming that's about the average.

Mine took about 2 weeks.... better (obviously) that a doctor answers, but I think the advice above was good about keeping it dry. Keep the wind out of it too!

The best way to keep it dry is a small ball of cotton wool coated in Vaseline.
