I've got an anova on the way and a large stockpot was wondering what folks used for vac bags?

I see to have a cheapy vac and sealer but it was a but crap so got rid. Have seen some bags with a valve on, various vac sealers, £££ pro units or just squeeze the air out of a zip lock?

I've got one of the cheap £40 sealers at home and it does the job fine for little things, duck legs, chicken breasts or single steaks etc I only use it a few times a year though and ANY moisture in the seal and you have to start again which is a PITA

Anything big my butcher will do it on their machine for me if I ask.

I have a JML / Andrew James sealer and have taken to double bagging as they have leaked a couple of times on the really long cooking stretches. I then use the outer bag again so it isn't wasted.

How do these compare to the zip lock silicone reusable bags on sale?

I use this one from Lakeland

Its not the cheapest, or the most expensive, but it works very well. I get the extra rolls and bags from Costco as they are cheaper. Not being constrained by a bag size is good as you just cut the roll to whatever size you require. The bags come in handy for standard size bits of meat.

I guess at a certain price point there are no real duds.

I got an Eiffel Freshpack Pro off eBay for just over £100 (which included some bags IIRC. Haven't used it a great deal, but it has always worked okay.
