you see a garage like the one I did yesterday. Without giving away the exact location , it's a west london mews and near to the hand car wash I use. Driving out with the Lambo looking rather tasty, I noticed a set of double garage doors open slightly - being a nosy type I slowed down as you often get some serious motors hidden away in this part of town.

How does a black SLR, silver Maclaren F1, yellow Ferrari 275 GTB and to top it all...a silver Enzo with on hell of a plate - ENZ 1. The chap in the garage was fitting trackers to the SLR and confirmed this was not a showroom but a private collection. My first thoughts were Nick Mason, but I'm now thinking a certain Mr Atkinson might be the lucky owner.

Sounds rather nice but wasted keeping those cars in Central London. They should be in a nice castle in the Scottish highlands!

Jim the Enzo was pictured a few months ago at the MP04 thing at the NEC. It was parked outside and obviously drawing a lot of attention.

I dont think they are Rowan Atkinsons cars. I know he ordered an SLR and has an F1 but I think that is burgundy. I dont think he has an Enzo either.

Must be a nice dillema for the owner every morning when he opens the garage doors though.

Atkinson has a black SLR. He doesn't have the F1 anymore-I heard he sold it after rear ending someone. He drives an NSX normally. There are 100s of people in the city wealthy enough to own this lot.

Being wealthy enough to own them is one thing - actually doing it is another wouldn't you say?

Hard to put a price on the 275 GTB, but that's got to be a 2mil collection. Wow.

So... for 2m what would you go for (no sensible cars please)

For me:

Enzo
Murcielago Roadster
Zonda Roadster
XJ220
Vanquish-R
F612
F430
Ford GT

or somehow an MC12 inthere somewhere....

I forget to add on to that...'£1m saved for an ISO Grifo, De Tomaso Pantera, Countach 5000 QV, 550 Maranello, Caterham HPC, OverFinch conversion for the Range Rover, 328GTB and an Ariel Atom.

Still leaves me £500,000 for some serious garaging space.

I'd have a 1970's bentley corniche made out of solid gold.

If I had any change I'd have the steering wheel encrusted with rubies.

I think 275s are between 150-300k depending on spec and whether you can find one for sale. Saw a lovely red one yesterday,

Interesting selection of cars you have there too. I take it you aren't a fan of classics

Have you been up close to an XJ220 and heard one? I suspect your MC12 would fit in that slot once you did

Congratulations. You are the first person I have heard of who actually wants a Veyron.

Matt that is a great collection.
I know sometimes in life "items" have to be sold but what an experience for you.

Thats a great list of cars to have experienced.

He rear-ended a Metro on the A6 somewhere near Lancaster some years ago.

His vehicle is F1 road car chassis number #61 - manufactured in 1997, it was the 49th F1 built by the factory. It is Burgundy in colour.

By all accounts he still owns the vehicle - it has not cropped up anywhere in the world under different ownership nor has it been publicly sold. Atkinson also made direct reference to his ownership of the car in an issue of Evo last year.

Unless the car has been resprayed (entirely possible), that collection is not his.

It's true that there are hundreds who could afford such a collection, but F1s aren't exactly common and the movements of the cars are closely monitored by anoraks like me (okay, I'm a mini-anorak compared to some peeps out there).

I'll try and do a little research and see if I can come up with the owner.
