That light conversion looks like a molested Klingon.

exige is better on the twisty bits.... But in a straight line the Cerb will be quicker

Tried a side by side acceleration test with a mate in his S1 Exige fitted with a Honda K20 super charged engine with a large charge cooler.

Neck and neck on the straights till about 80-90 then the Cerb starts to pull away, Exige faster on tight twists Cerb more stable on long sweeping bends and the greater torque seems to get the Cerb out of the corners quicker.

This Exige is considerably more powerful than a standard Exige S.

If they are your cars, I'm very jealous. Both brilliant cars in different ways, both incredibly rewarding to drive. I'd have one of each if I could!

The Exige S absolutely monsters B roads, I would not even attempt to keep up with one driven properly in my Cerb. The Lotus suspension just comes alive and seems to iron out lumps, bumps and road imperfections in a way that would deflect a Cerb, so allows you to really attack a road. However as has been said, the Cerb comes into its own on more open roads and it does capture much of that Lotus dna in terms of feel and agility. I love mine and have owned four Elise's over the last 17 years including Audi and Honda powered ones.

A Speed Six Cerb would run a similar 0-60 time to an Exige S, beyond that the Cerb would pull away. A mapped 4.5 would be a lot quicker, it's what I have and also have driven an Exige S.

A standard k20a sc Elise would match a 4.5 to 100, I'd expect a chargecooled one to be slightly faster as they are 350bhp and sub 800kg. My mates one was faster than his wife's Sag.

Add a bit of wet tarmac too around a few of the bends and unfortunately the Lotus would have the Cerb hands down. Cerb would sound and look better as it was sideways or going backwards round the same bends tho

This is so true.

Does anyone know why TVR never really managed to get a car to work on a wet road?

Exige S 6 seconds quicker round Bedfords West Circuit than a 4.5 Cerb, different drivers of course!

Interesting replies; if only everyone else could see it like this hahaha. Most people will be biased towards one or the other.

The Exige is mine and the Cerb is a friend's. It makes for some awesome drives out based on exactly every response above. I can disappear in the corners and actually can get a lot more power down sooner but then he'll claw his way back on the straights.

He definitely sounds better too!

Just out of interest , what's the difference between a exige and Elise ? They look the same to me

The exige is one of the few cars on the road that actually makes the Cerbera look tall and pretty large, it would be nice to have both tucked away in the garage for sure.

Not much with the S2, it was intended to be more of a trackday weapon when released although there were various models launched after which changed this slightly. Seats were better, it had the 190bhp Yota lump as standard, different wheels and if I recall different suspension. Later S2 Exige's were generally more sporty than their Elise cousins.

It's easy enough to make a 111R handle and go the same way as an Exige if you throw a few £££ at one as it has the same engine, also several sc options including Lotus's own.

Been described as;
Elise - Road car you can track
Exige - Track car, road legal

Exige has aero, wider tyres and different suspension too I think.
Exige 'S' is the addition of a supercharger.

Thanks for clearing that up.... I can think of one instance where a Elise couldn't keep up with a 4.5 cerb and there was tears before bed time .... And I once had a go in a friends Elise and first impressions were good until I tried the brakes... They were bloody awful compared to my cerb and I quickly handed the car back.

S1 did not have servo's, as soon as you get used to them they are brilliant, especially with the right pads.

Pretty much what was said above. Mine is a little different as it has Ohlins suspension as opposed to the more common Bilstein and also mine runs at (aprox) 290bhp which makes it a lot harder for the Cerb. I think a standard 220 would possible be beaten, however it would obviously still have the handling benefit.
