I seem to have quite a lot of white substance behind the lower part of my windscreen, I know this is quite common on TVR's.
Is it a case of remove the windscreen and clean it up, then simply refit the screen?

It is caused when the screen delaminates.

The only cure is to replace the screen unfortunately.

Guessing a new screen isn't cheap! If I change it, am I likely to experience the same problem in years to come, or do they make them differently now?

Did you not hit a pheasant on your way home? Seems it may have cracked your screen, best speak to the insurers and get it replaced. wink

They all do that sir yes it normally is on the bottom corners and it normally is about an inch wide and even if you replace the screen it will come back, its just the way the car flexes nothing you can do about it, specially when driving round track's at speed

Of course he did. Hit the insurance company for a vanity repair. At least that way we will all feel that we have made a contribution in the long run.

Does it have an effect on the strength, mine is delaminating but not really bothered but I will change it if it is a safety thing.

Before any pheasants fall on your windscreen, bear in mind the current supply situation. This thread might be worth a read......

Mine was like that when I bought it.
it was suggested I should seal it so it didnt go worse.

I trimed back the sealant around the area, then gently heated the screen with the wifes hair dryer to remove all the moisture, then introduced superglue and as it cooled it drew the liquid in.
once the glue had gone off fully, I added a bead of tigerseal to the edging and resealed the trim.

5 years on, no worse and still sealed

Good to hear screens are being delivered to the UK soon, your never believe it a large bird hit the screen the other day causing a massive crack in it! (Joke)

I have come up with an idea to overcome this problem, I will take some photos and keep all up to date once done over the weekend.

Overall integrity of windscreen is weakened if the sandwich construction is separating (when it goes a milky colour, this usually indicates water ingress, and/or that that particular edge of the screen is sitting - or is exposed to - water).
