Seats....can you swap them over?

As per really! My passenger seat has literally never been sat in and is as new. Just wondering if they can be swapped over? Anyone done this?

I'm sure I read of a guy who'd successfully swapped seats over, the adjuster handle will be buried in the carpet but didn't seem to be a problem that I can remember.

Yes. Very simple to do, just beware the drivers seat has an extra raising section under the runners (though not, of course, in all cars).

I swapped mine over a few years ago to try and get some wear out of the passenger seat. The levers do not foul the tunnel but you will have to be mindful of the seatbelt buckle, depending on your seat position.

Whilst swapping them over give some thought to improving the support by inserting rubber mats between the foam and supporting wires under the squab. If you do a search here or, I think, chimaera pages there is a really good 'how to'.

I swapped mine over to do this last summer. You have to transfer the runners too because the drivers seat front is slightly raised. This was awkward and required some filing to get the retaining bolt out. It takes longer than you think. It also gives you a chance to check the carpets under the seats. I found loose change and some sweets under mine!

The adjuster mechanisms on mine now rub against the transmission tunnel carpet but still work OK.

I think early models may have the seatbelt strap secured to the seat and there's a danger you may shear the bolt getting it off. Mine is a 2000 car and the straps are secured to the transmission tunnel.
