Central Scotland/forth area

Anyone interested in starting a central scotland tvr owners club/site etc?
I asked b4 and no takers but whilst out the other day b4 my feet fell off with the cold(fan doesnt work since new) i saw about 3 tvr's(tuscan.chimeara and a 350c) obviously a few going around and nearest owners club is fife and we dont want to become neebor's now(no offence to fife'rs)

any one interested summer runs etc ? let me know thanks

Technically the Kirkaldy meet is the TVR Car Club Central Scotland region, but if you can find a better location, we would be more than happy to move (we are looking around at the moment)

What we need is a pub with:
Decent food/service
Big car park
Nice driving roads nearby

Currently the venue only provides 2 of the above...

You should also get yourself on the yahoogroups tvrcc-scotland email alias, as this is where summer drives & other events tend to get organised

P.S. Next meet at Strathblane is on Sunday - you would be more than welcome...

How large a car park as my freind owns a motor museum and does great food/drinks etc and large area avialable for parking i can have word with him, this is bo'ness, craig maybe too far for some i dont know !!

Im sure Colin would love the traffic also

Sunday at midday - you must be the only person I know that has a problem of being too cold in a TVR
Normally the problem is too hot...

Sounds interesting - is there a place to sit & have a natter at the museum?
I don't think distance is really an issue - we get guys driving down from Dundee, Aberdeen etc; I'm based in Edinburgh, but I'm an assistant organiser for the Glasgow region (no I don't know how that happened either)
As to carpark size - we tend to get anywhere between 5 & 35 cars depending on the weather, time of year.

Well his car park extends out the back and yes he has a bar(soft drinks/alochol obv not recomended) as well as a snack area and stuff tis very nice location and hes a real car nut(not converted him to tvr's to date as hes a aston martin man and has 3 on show at museum.

My fan's nevr worked since i had car and regardless of how much fun it is its still pretty chilly craig.

As Craig rightly says, the Central Scotland region of the TVRCC meets at Kirkcaldy. We can have cars from as far south as the Borders, as far north as Dundee, and as far west as Ayrshire. Even with that potential catchment we can struggle to get more than a dozen cars some months. Even with that catchment we get precious few on track days...but at least we manage to muster up some sizeable runs.

There is simply not the number of TVRs to run 2 TVRCC areas in east/central Scotland. You can, of course, set up a group outside the club, but then you again have the problem of getting numbers and also the issue of diluting the efforts of the club.

Can I suggest you first come along to some of the club meetings and events before deciding whether or not you want to start something more local?

Were you aware, for example, of the opportunity to spend a day driving Tuscans, T350s and Tamoras (and to gawp at the new Sagaris) last Friday? This was common knowledge within the club, and quite a few folks went and had a great time.

Are you aware of the Dreadnought track sessions upcoming at Knockhill, or even the 'mini-drive/convoy' on March 5th? Should be quite a few TVRs going for a blast round central scotland/Fife before the meet.

There are lots of opportunities for TVR owners and enthusiats to meet, socialise, and do events together in Scotland. I would suggest that the first step would be to get involved in what's already happening. And if you do want to organise something yourself (like a drive), then if you arrange it through the club I'll do what I can to advertise it/promote it. Its always great to get folks who are prepared to organise things for the other members; I'm sure we could muster quite a few cars if you want to come up with something.

Maybe see you on Saturday the 5th at the Dunnikier House in Kirkaldy? You don't even have to come along in a TVR!

Yes thanks i do go to track days via glenvarigill as obviously on differant days.

Ill bear both in mind and see if i can make to to both asap

Ill ask owner of museum if wished Craig? as sure he'd be ok for a few tvr's to pop in if looking for place to have a natter and bacon sarnie also..

Hi Craig, I spoke to the owner/Colin today and he says he would welcome and be delighted to host/have the tvr meet at his location as he shall also supply free access to tvr owners to the motor museum also .

He does host a lotus evening once/mth also so he welcomed idea for tvr owners meet if wished and just let me know he says hell get the bacon rolls sorted out should u wish

Sounds well worth a visit. However, can I suggest you come along to the next Kirkcaldy meet, and see what goes on and we can all discuss it from there. While I think a visit to the museum would be great, I'm not sure how everyone else would take to 'bacon rolls' on a monthly basis. Most folks seem to want a sit-down meal, then a semi-private sit-down area. Maybe a monthly evening slot?

It's great to see your enthusiasm about getting something else going in the area, but lets not be too quick to 'throw the baby out with the bathwater'. The Central Scotland TVRCC region has been going for some years, and I really think you want to understand what we do and what we can offer before trying to start up anything 'in competition', or trying to change what the majority are happy with (assuming they are happy with it ). I'm keen to see our activities grow to accomodate everyone out there! The more members we have actively on board the better.

We do have a reasonable number of owners and enthusiasts, and if you want numbers for any new/different venue, or want folks to go to an event inside or outside the club, then it's probably in everyone's best interests to put it to the folks at the meetings. I do like to think the region operates pretty informally and democratically, so come along, speak to the folks and see what we all have to say. Most of all though, please join in! We need more active members!

Before this month's meeting, some of the folks are meeting up in Dunfermline for a wee 2 hour (or so) 'drive' through Fife, up through Gleneagles and ending up at Kirkcaldy. This only started as an idea last month when one of the members (Adrian) said he fancied organizing a wee pre-meeting run, and so far I think there are 8 cars up for it. Outside the club, I just don't think you'd get that many cars at that kind of notice for a 'run'. (And if you like doing drives/runs, I think we are already hitting the number limits for Andy's run/drive later in the year with nearly 30 cars booked!)

Anyway, why not join in on the pre-meeting run this weekend? Details on the newsgroup. Then come along and meet us all for lunch?

I really do think that if you want to do things in or around TVRs in central Scotland, the club would offer you the perfect 'vehicle' either as a participant or an organiser.

The 'major' events/activities are on the 'Diary' at www.TVRCC-Scotland.co.uk, which also has the locations and times of the monthly meetings on the 'Meetings' page. Also, there's a link to the 2004 and 2003 diary pages off the 2005 diary, so you can see what we got up to over the past few years.

Also, I try to put some advance warning of the 'big' uncoming events like the Celtic Gathering and Andy's drives in Sprint. (You DO get Sprint I hope ).

Things organised at short notice (like this Saturday's run/drive) get posted on the newgroup - link from the first page of the TVRCC-Scotland web site; you'll have to subscribe.

Other events, news of future events, plans for new/future events & activities raised and discussed at the monthly meetings. All fairly informal, but but if someone has an idea or a proposal then come and shout it out! We're always on the lookout for more activities and organisers.

On the 'meetings' page, the regular meeting for central Scotland is listed as the 1st Saturday of each month...so unless my diary deceives me, that's this coming Saturday.

The [yahoogroups TVRCC Scotland] newsgroup has all the up-to-the-minute stuff - look at the postings re 'Pre Meeting Drive' or similar; can't recall exact topic title, but there was another posting this morning.
