Apologies for asking this well trodden question, appears I'm having a thick moment and can't see the recent thread I saw on here using the search.

My parents want to go and see another, they've already seen The Lion King and Blood Brothers, they loved them both.

TIA.

Not sure if this helps...

Theatre / Musicals aren't really my thing - I basically only go to keep my wife happy. However, I was persuaded to go and see the Carole King Musical 'Beautiful' and was thoroughly impressed and would recommend this to anyone.

Not sure if that helps?!

I've heard very good things abut that too - i guess you just need to know whether that's your type of thing or not!

I'd recommend Wicked, saw it in New York last year, not really my thing, but I enjoyed it.

Is Warhorse still on? That would be my choice - I'm another one who hates most musicals, certainly the lloyd webber type of middle of the road blandness. Would go and see Matilda, just for the Minchin element. Book of Mormons, just because I know that would be funny.

Les miss is good. I got dragged to see it years ago and really liked it.

If they fancy a non musical the Woman in Black is excellent. I've seen it twice. The first time We were in the second row and got scared stless.

Do your parents go to more local theatre rather than just London. Touring professional companies and amateur productions can be very good - and much cheaper.

Just as a counterpoint, we hated Wicked - didn't like any of the characters and the songs sounded just like every other Broadway musical. Good set and very well executed, but boring. Incredibly glad we got cheap tickets (reduced vis, couldn't see a tiny bit of the upper set).

We really liked Singing in the Rain, also Curious Dog has some great lighting/set design - though a bit disturbing in places, read the book or a summary.

The lot behind The Play That Goes Wrong have also done Peter Pan Goes Wrong which is good too.

Agree on The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night too, very good, although we'd both read the book so don't know if that had any bearing on our enjoyment.

Les Miserables is worth a watch as well.
