Original Headlights
Discussion
Evening all,
I need some guidelines with respect to the reassembly and sealing of my headlight lenses / cowls please. It's been a long time since I took them apart and I can't remember whether the lens is bonded and sealed to the cowl or whether it is bonded to the aperture in the body and then the cowl is sealed to the lens after it is installed.
Any ideas?

The lens sits in a rubber gasket, the cowl then pushes this gasket against the headlight deflector. I don't believe there was any sealant in my headlight assembly at all except where the lugs had broken off the cowl and somebody had glued them back as usual....

Thanks Jody, J
I'll have a look at assembling without sealant but I know for a fact that I removed a lot of sikaflex when I disassembled the lights. Bonding the rubber gasket to the cowl seems like it might be the right thing to do and should prevent water ingress but I'll do some trial assembly tonight.

It all seems easy enough but from experience I know that sikaflex can be a b*tch to work with............
