Toyos - Anyone brought any lately?

Need a set for my Chimaera and Camskill don't seem to have any Should have brought some a few weeks ago.

Has anyone seen any going cheap?

I know no one has any T1R 245/45 R16's in at present. Next batch due in at the end of May according to Toyo.

I ordered 225/50 15 Toyo T1Rs for the front of my Griffith from mytyres last week (they had no rears but I replaced them in January (blackcircles that time)

Have to be honest, i switched back to Yokos after trying a set of Toyos. Just didn't inspire the same degree of confidence for me, although my car is a 911, so could be a different story with a TVR.

toyos were great on my griffith - standard wheels, better than my previous bridgestones.

dampers being rebuilt probably helped aswell though!

I am not a TVR owner but I have to ask, why Toyos?

I had a really bad experience with them a few years back when a had a blowout (essentially the tire split in two vertically while still on the wheel) with my Nissan.

I am currently running Yokohamas on my Gen2 Celica GT and BF Goodriches on my B GT.

I recommended the latter to anyone.

What was toyos engineers analysis of the failure.

The Toyo T1Rs never inspired me either.

There R1Rs are completely different and make a great all-rounder for these lightweight cars, truly inspiring confidence.

I like the T1R. Great grip in the wet or dry but the soft sidewall is not good for direct steering feel.

Why Toyo?

Not my first choice, I have Goodyear on all except the Griff.

But when I was looking for a new set for the Griff a few years ago, there was very little choice for the rear size of 245/45 R16's so I tried the T1R's front and back. Now need a new set of rears, so will buy again to keep them all the same.

I changed from Bridgestone's and found the Toyo's soft in comparision. Then added 2psi all round and much improved to the point I'm happy with them. Used a couple of times on track too and fine for occasional use.

I switched from T1Rs to Yoko AD08s years ago. Much better IMHO.

That's on 17s mind, not sure if they make them to fit the 15s.

T1R's have quite soft sidewalls so are very sensitive to tyre pressures & probably not suited to heavier cars. TVR's should be fine & they work well on my Clio 172 Cup as it weighs very little.

Agreed hugely better IMO. I have the standard wheels on mine and went for the following sizes:

Front – 205/50 R15
Rear – 225/50 R16
