Hi All,
I've got a 2008 C180 Kompressor 6 speed manual (w204) and ever since i bought it there has been a clunk from the rear when changing gears, it's most noticable when going from 1st to second, sometimes in 3rd...it'll also do it when going from reverse to first & vise versa.

My mechanic has looked at the car and cant find any play, we've replaced the centre propshaft bearing but no luck.

Where would be the next best place to look or are there any common things i havent checked?

Thanks in advance for any info! Cheers

Does this have flex joints in the driveline? Connecting the driveshaft and differential? These can go hard and can be a cause for a clunk in the driveline....

Pretty easy to replace - if it's that.

Yes it has one between the differential and propshaft at the rear.

No vibrations at motorway speeds just that annoying loud bang when changing gears!

He said it looked good when he checked it, there was slight backlash in the rear diff but both looked good.

Reckon a new doughnut would sort it?

I think so possibly yes... It could have gone hard as opposed to breaking down.
