Hi all, I've had a small hiccup with the cerb! After a 120mile drive on Friday I parked her up, drove faultlessly and had great day out. After around an hour i went to move her to put into the garage, started up perfect, reversed and manoeuvred up to the garage ready to go in but decided to clean her off before putting her away for the evening. Went to start back up after cleaning and engine just turned and didn't fire up, I thought maybe I had flooded her from reversing such a short distance and shutting off immediately after reversing. Left her for about an hour or 2 before going back to fire her back up to put away in the garage, she started but the revs went all the way up to 5k I shut the engine off immediately following brown pants moment!! I lifted the bonnet to check the throttle linkage wasn't stuck etc but looked OK, only thing that I did notice is the throttle cable was a tad slack, at this point it's getting dark and I pushed her back in and stuck back on charge to look at again on Saturday. Any thoughts?? The oil pressure was spot on and went straight up when cranking, no unusual noises (knocking etc) bit unsure where to look next before trying to start her back up. It's the 4.2 also. Possible throttle pot?

When you said 'cleaned her off' i guess you washed it?

If so you got the engine electrics wet?

Check with an assistant on the accelerator that both banks move ok, the cable should have a small amount of slack.
If this is ok, I guess you may have got water In the throttle pots.

The coil packs sit right under the vents on the scuttle panel, mine were not in great condition and after washing she would not run till I had stuck a hair dryer on them for 10 min.

They worked fine if driven in the rain it was just the amount of water running down rather than up the windscreen that was a problem.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for the replies! Supateg, iv looked at both banks and they move simultaneously, Do you think it may also be a case of fuel being sat from trying to turn over before suspecting I had flooded it? Also think it would be safe to try and turn over again? Or would I need to get that fuel out? Many thanks

If you flood it, then turn it over on the starter with the throttle pedal pressed fully to the floor. The wide throttle at low revs isnt mapped for fueling so it turns off fuel delivery and clears it very quickly.
