Call answering service....
Discussion
I have tried a couple of companies and both were very mixed results. Because they read from a script it becomes pretty clear that the business isn't answering the call which looks a bit cheap.
If it was me I would be using a hosted telephony service with a out of hours call divert and voice mail. If the call isn't picked up on say your mobile it runs to voice mail which then sends out a email alerting you to a message. The sophistication needed is really down to the application (service centre or just general out of hours for example)

I've used these guys in the past - http://timeassistant.co.uk/call-answering/ and calls were always answered quickly and politely (albeit in Scottish
) - seemed to be a small pool of receptionists which made things a little more personal.
