Wheel badge alignment - what did I do wrong?

Yesterday I replaced the rather tired TVR wheel centre badges, one of which was missing (presumed nicked).

As I fitted them, I was very careful to ensure that all four badges were perfectly horizontal, confirmed with a spirit level. I was very pleased with my work.

Imagine my horror when, after only a short drive, the badges were very badly out of alignment. One of them was still nearly horizontal, but the others were way out of whack - in fact, one of them was upside down!

So what did I do wrong?

Was it the wrong kind of adhesive (I used Tiger Seal)? Poor quality badges? Or is there something amiss with the wheels themselves, or perhaps the suspension?

I have now jacked the car up and rotated the wheels so that the badges are back in alignment, but I'm worried that the same thing might happen again next time I drive it. What can I do to stop this happening?

Maybe you're right. Is that why some people only ever seem to drive their cars on the drag strip?

It's the wheels! What you should do is jack up the car and rotate each wheel a 1/4 turn on the studs. Must be done in the right order i.e. start at front offside and go anti clockwise around car. Also must complete this procedure before midday today or it won't work.

They might wobble a bit but should return to the same position every time!

My problem is similar...With mine, one of the 'R's fell off, and now I feel compelled to wear a dress...

Could be coz you've got 15" fronts and 16" rears ? ...

Wouldn't worry about it - but try to keep the bonnet and boot badges horizontal...

Rolls Royce were as concerned about this issue as your self and they engineered the centre caps in a bearing weighted at the bottom so the RR centre is always up the right way .. I must admit I have always felt that was impressive attention to detail ... and that is not an April fool

Thanks for the suggestions, folks.

Every time I drive it, I will try reversing back along the same route that I took. That should prevent it from happening I reckon.
