Take the bolts out!There is one bolt either side that form the pivot, access to the nuts is through a slit in the carpet. on the left hand side you should also find the wires to the interior light, disconnect or cut.
Rear of targa top is held down to the body by six or so M6 bolts, access these from the boot. If they are rusty and seized there is a good chance the bolts will "spin". If you are recovering the easiest way is cut through old fabric to access bolt heads.
And, of course, remove the hood stays.
Your targa should now come off

Just to add to the advice Phillpot has given you.
It isnt a particularly difficult job but it does need care or you risk damage.
When you take out the two pivot bolts you should be careful, there may be spacers and you will need to keep them in the right order.
The small bolts holding down the rear of the hood are almost certain to spin. I agree with Phillpot, carefully put very small slits in the vinyl where you can feel the screw head, when refitting use nice stainless steel screws with large heads, right through to cover the tiny slits.
I believe it is more likely on earlier cars but there may also be two 'self tapping' screw holding the front ends of the rear section down to the bodywork, screwed directly into the fibreglass.
The 'hoop', and also the section across the bottom of the rear of the hood, are grp. Between the inner vinyl and the grp is a thin layer of foam padding. If yours is an old car, or has had a lot of sun, that foam will have started to disintegrate and you are likely to have a lot of brown 'dust' appearing. If you are careful you should be able to peel off the vinyl, glue in new foam, and glue the vinyl back using a good quality contact adhesive. Use a solvent based one, the newer water based 'safe' glues can fail when they get hot, which is b....y annoying!!! (

)
If the white lining to the actual black hood material is starting to fail, sorry, there is no real solution other than a new hood and they have to be custom made as each car is slightly different. If anybody goes down that line, INSIST the installer uses a solvent based glue!
Good luck
