Who in their right mind would voluntarily chop up air cooled Pork in todays market to turn them into embarrassing fugly monstrosities
Anyone who sees old air cooled cooking model Porsches for what they are, outdated, modest powered, runarounds built in fair numbers. Let's be honest this must be the best fate that can befall a 911sc ? Anyone that views these as high value collectors cars can only be deluded.

This is the best fate for an SC? I hope very few agree with you!The best fate for an SC is that it is maintained, preserved and enjoyed by its owner as the good Doctor intended.
Some subtle upgrades are fine, but this is posing nonsense.

So by sticking huge wheel arch extensions on it that have no functional value whatsoever, putting a massive wing on the back, massaging the engine a little and putting stupid stickers on the tyres, they become modern, competitive cars that spank anything currently being produced? I'm not even against modifying Porsches, or rebuilding them. I think the Singer stuff is magic. But this is for poseurs, and suggesting anything else is disingenuous.mollytherocker said:

Personally, I love that people do stuff like this.

Molly, as the self appointed arbiter for taste, where do you draw the line? Making a boggo, modest, 993 C2 in an RS rep? Taking a 997 Turbo and creating a 997 GT2RS 'alike? Does Magnus Walker give you the willies?

Its only my view of course. But these are horribly naff. Made hugely wide for no reason but for posing.Personally, I love that people do stuff like this.
I havent got a major issue with any of your other suggestions. I like most of what Magnus does as its inspired by early racing and has some period patina to it. I dont like his 964 though.
993 to RS spec sounds good to me, BUT no RS badge please!
997t to a GT2RS alike is ok if its mainly mechanical as opposed to just trying to look like one, ie posing again.
I appreciate that this is subtle stuff and will vary to personal tastes but the RW stuff is at the extreme end as far as I am concerned.

Extreme, yes. Some of them I would swerve without hesitation but some just tickle me. Actually getting one made and bringing it home....I just couldn't imagine! Not sure the mean streets of North London are ready for such beasts! I havent got a major issue with any of your other suggestions.
