Credit Expert web monitoring red alert
Discussion
Both me and my missus have received notice that our email address and passwords are for sale on the dark web, I'm mystified as we both use different iPads and computers on different LANs and with different mobile providers , so how can we both have been 'done' at the same time?
Anyone else had something similar? We've changed email passwords do we need to change all other passwords linked to this email address as well or is this an Experian sales technique!
Cheers!

They don't know which password is being offered, unless the seller identifies the site that's been breached and that information is passed on, so you should change passwords on every account that you log into by using that email address.
If a particular site has been identified, change the password on every site that also uses that password with your email address.

Ah brilliant ..I only have a handful that use my email as part of the log in , I'm guessing Amazon has been hacked as it's the only site we both use using our email addresses as the log in If a particular site has been identified, change the password on every site that also uses that password with your email address.

No I only used the password on the numptie site so I can relax , my wife however can blame me as I'd signed her up for credit expert using my email so her account is intact and I'm also a numptie for thinking otherwise...🐴944fan said:

We run web servers and see attack attempts all the time from all over the world. Bots run brute force scripts practically non stop these days. You can't rely on your web service to keep on top of detection and be as vigilant as we are, so you have to protect yourself.
If you are given the option, use 2 step authentication for anything vaguely important and potentially compromising like your personal email. Google Authenticator is a good example ofna 2 step service. Don't rely on single passwords or rotating numbers at the end of the same passwords for anything except benign logins like this forum

You might find it's not from Experian. I had an alert yesterday and phoned Experian just to find the email wasn't from them, even though it looked perfect - look at the email address, if it's from xyz@e.experian.co.uk it's just a phishing scam.
