Meta Alarm On - Siren Off. Meta Alarm Off - Siren On!

In the wee small hours my 450 alarm started sounding! I used my remote to silence it and went back to bed. In the cold light of day I find that all is quiet when the alarm is enabled and the doors locked but as soon as I disable it I get deafened! There is no obvious error code indicated by the LED so I must assume its just got a headache.

I will try disconnecting the battery to see if that resets something but that wont of course tell me what triggered the alarm in the first place.

Anyone got any ideas as to what could cause the problem?

So I decided to remove the siren to make life quieter. On with the ear protection, off with the siren and into an old freezer which I have been hoarding for this very moment so all is (relatively) quiet.

Interestingly the alarm seems to operate fine now which makes me wonder about the siren internal battery which must be 18 years old now! The noise when disconnected was a bit feeble and only went for 20 minutes before giving up. Maybe the system decided the time had come to say I need a new one and maybe the better way of doing it is to make a fuss when disabled so at least I can leave the car locked?

I think you may be correct as the Siren is not just a Siren as when updating my Meta alarm system to a later unit I also had to update the Siren. There could well be some intelligence within the Siren that talks to the alarm, so that if the Siren battery was on its last legs it could throw up a fault.
