Watched 987 Boxster dump coolant on motorway and not stop
Discussion
Wow!
Coming up Bluebell Hill in Kent just now in my silver 996, and had a lovely silver 987 Boxster cab sitting behind me. As we near the top he pulls past me and whilst I'm thinking "they are such a lovely shape" it proceeds to dump all its coolant on the carriageway in one big dramatic pink splash. As if the headertank had exploded or a coolant pipe had popped right off the water pump.
I come up behind him at a heck of a rate of knots, flashing my lights and peeping my horn and pull up alongside. With my window down I am shouting at him "your coolant, your coolant has all come out!" (and my wife is pointing at the back of the car a lot). He nods back and says in a very concerned way "yeah, I know". But he doesn't stop.
I keep going, and he is back behind me, white smoke billowing out the back like he is in the Red Arrows as the coolant burns off on the hot exhaust. We get to the junction with the M2, and he is still going along as normal, the car behind me.
I join the M2, and I amazed that he is still going behind me "at speeds at or around the legal limit officer".
In the end I come off the motorway later on to get to my house, but he was still going!
What an expensive way to clean your back tires....

What a knob. Oh well another engine rebuild for someone to do.
Rebuild in the sense that you throw away one engine and put in another? The heads won't survive that sort of abuse, let alone the block; the valve seats will start to move in the head(s) when the temperature gets that high.Uninsured more like. ANPR is a bit of a joke. I had a car dumped near me a month or so ago with obviously doctored number plates (black putty) and tax that expired six months or so previous. We live in an empty road in so much as nobody really parks on it as everyone has driveways and garages. So outsiders are spotted a mile off.
Bluebell Hill is my area. The only other Porsche I saw up on Bluebell Hill was a red one that had had a prang where the A229 joins the M2 junction. Unfortunately too many drivers speed up the hill and cut off at the last minute into slow moving and queueing traffic joining the M2. It was a year plus ago and the Porsche looked to be a 993/994 ???
