Can't turn QR lever due to frame design

Is this normal - I have a new Emonda frame. Took the back wheel off (can't remember if I had to spin the QR lever much) and when I went to put the wheel back on, the QR lever is set-in to the frame, I.e it sits inside a pocket. This prevents the QR lever from being able to rotate and therefore tighten up. I just tightened the other side and seem ok but it that right?!?

On a seperate note - how do you know that the nut or the lever side are screwed on enough? I.e how do you know they aren't a quarter of a turn from coming off?

Sounds to me like your doing the qr up wrong! You don't spin it tight.

Not tight but you rotate it 360 degrees a couple of times and the bend the lever over - you should feel resistance when the lever is about half way closed right?

What I mean is I can't turn the lever at all. Or maybe 90 degrees. Even with the lever pointing straight out - inline with the axle - there is a bit that sticks out and catches the frame so can't be turned anymore

Sounds very odd. You don't strictly have to have the lever on either side though, could take it out and swap over. Some mountain nukes are a bit funny where you have large cast disc mounts. Any chance of a photo?

I've got the Emonda SL 6 (2015) and the wheel has been off more times than I'd like to admit, but I've never had an issue with refitting the QR when putting it back together.

OP - try posting a photo, and I'll have a look at my bike to compare it to. I just can't think what it might be that's going wrong.

I'll second this.

I also have an Emonda (2015 SL5) and have no problem with the QRs but I consciously spin the nut because I don't want to mark the frame with the lever! (and the leaflet that came with my Fulcrum wheelset told me to do it that way too.)
