Well finshed changing the shower cubicle today so time for the car tomorrow. I am planning on geting under the S and cleaning/ Waxoiling etc. I have 2 axle stands, 2 car ramps, a trolley jack and the TVR jack. and bricks if needed!!

What is theb best method to lift the car so I can get under it and work without the thing falling on me

thanks

Find a hard, level surface.

What works for me is the trolley jack located on the front to back running chassis rail (I use a block of wood between jack & chassis for protection). I wouldn't pi55 about with the TVR jack.

Jack it up, axle stand under chassis rail, lower the car gently onto stand.

Repeat operation on other side. I'd also leave the trolley jack doing something useful and supporting some part of the chassis.

Bricks are a crazy if you're working underneath, IMHO.

I'd put it on the ramps at the front, lift the back up with the trolly jack under the diff and axle stand the rear

A bit cold for wax oiling. Unless your going to the tin warmed. Best left 'til summer.

NO!!!!

Do not use a jack under the diff as you'll find the jack going straight through the alloy case.....

Always use the chassis rails to jack the car, if your chassis is rotten.... erm... er.. take it to a garage and get it fixed first!!

I reversed mine up my ramps and then raised the front using 2 trolley jacks and then supported it on two axle stands. If you hold one front side on the axle stand it could possibly slip off (mine did) while you raise the other side.

As you can see I also strapped the back wheels to the ramps, I doubt it's needed but mine was up there for a few weeks...

Mark
