Defender 7' Trucklite's
Discussion
Have a 50th and been wavering on whether to upgrade my lights for a while as the originals are such rubbish, want to keep it as standard as possible.
So two options are 7' trucklites or A Bar and 2 spots ?
Anyone have a view, pricing for both options are about the same. Have do the A bar thing before and was useful for where we live but everyone tells me its old hat now and I should go trucklite route.
Any views ?
Thanks

Is the problem lack of illumination on dipped beam?
I fitted a 300mm LED light bar to my Bowler, fantastic spread of light for use on twisty roads.
The headlights are clear lense type and these are pretty good on main beam.
Headlamps (especially) are a compromise to meet legislation. I've no experience of LED 7" headlights but a cheaper option may be to fit lights with lenses to suit your requirements.
I used to have 6" KC daylighters - spot lense great for high-speed routes and the driving lense a better option giving good spread of illumination for corners.
Biggest risk with LED headlamps? - not cheap and very easy to steal!

Thanks for the reply, this is my second 50th, the first one had big spots on the front.
We moved a while ago and the last 10 miles home from anywhere are fast country roads with no street lights, I think the issue is both dipped beam but also being able to see far enough especial to see animals on road etc etc
The other main issue is that I think the lights themselves are probably the originals from 1998 so will have discoloured / gone slightly opaque.
So the lenses if nothing else need replacing and probably the bowls which started this whole upgrade discussion which as ever with defenders gets out of hand very quickly !!!
I think I probably need to see further rather than close up if that makes sense
Thanks

I would not bother upgrading to LED, especially on the 50th as it will ruin the look.
I upgraded my headlamp loom with a Bison one from Paddocks (see link below). I also fitted Wipac crystal headlights and some fancy Philips bulbs and the difference is incredible. Very simple to fit and massive gains over standard.

I've got a pair of trucklites in one of my RRCs, massive improvement over what I had before. I had previously been running wipac crystal lamps, relayed wiring loom and uprated bulbs but the LEDs are a step above this.
Unless you look close they are pretty hard to spot, unlike the JW speaker lamps etc, they just look a bit darker than a normal headlight.
