I have 2 gallon of petrol that is at least 7 years old and I need rid.

My local tip take old car oil but have refused to take it.

I don't know anybody with a petrol mower that wants it...... and with my luck, any attempt to light it WILL result in my death, though yes, I would love to set fire to a garden hut. Obviously.

Suggestions?

I put some petrol that was 10ish years old, in my generator, and it ran sweet as, as for a car engine who knows..

I'd happily use it my car, dilute it by topping up with fresh fuel if you're worried.

Failing that, take it to the council tip and pour it in the used oil tank. They'll never know if use an old oil can!

2 : plural of one.

Gallon : singular of gallons.

How much fuel do you have?

Transfer to oil can.

Take to tip.

Empty into used oil receptacle at tip.

Job done.

Put it in an open top container/tray and watch it evaporate.

I'd stick it in your car if it is a petrol, it will be absolutely fine as long as it looks and smells ok. I've had all sort of varying ages of 'old' petrol up to about 20 years old and it has always been fine. I've heard of petrol going bad, but in my experience it has never happened.

I want to pour it at the tip (I think it's the most responsible way) but worried that they see me pouring out petrol and tell me to FRO

I don't want to, but it may end up down a drain

Thank you. I thought it was gallon but didn't bother checking beforehand.

Sniff it. You get a massive high off petrol. Book the following day off work though, you will be rough.

Honestly, put it on gumtree free to collector if you don't want to use it yourself and it will be gone within minutes. Someone will be very grateful for it either for their car or generator/mower etc.

The thought of putting it on gumtree fills me with dread tbh....its at least 7yrs old, could possibly be 15yrs (it was inherited but the jerry can is worth keeping)

I can only imagine someone coming back complaining that the free fuel has ruined their car or something
