We have a 2010 Skoda Octavia Scout 1.8tsi in the family and its oil consumption is becoming really worrysome. I was already concerned about it as it approached the end of the warranty - the main dealer had it in and conducted a controlled consumption test and they pronounced it "within tolerances". It has only done 60k miles and now the consumption is epic - a litre in 320 miles at the last count. Has this engine been problematic within VAG because I am sure that if I approach the dealer again they will just say that it passed their consumption test at the end of the warranty period? Will be grateful for your thoughts.

Yes, a recognised problem for some 1.8 and 2.0 TSI of a certain age. Skoda's solution is new pistons, rings and conrods. If it uses more that 0.5 litres over 1000km (621miles) then it is failing their consumption test.

Skoda TPI is 2027920/1 I believe. I had the work done under warranty. Not sure of your chances if it has expired, but it is probably worth speaking to them if the problem has been reported when it was in warranty.
