Can anybody recommend me some decent wellies please? Haven't had a pair since my Thomas The Tank Engine pair when I was about 8 so no idea where to start. Are Hunter's worth the money or am I just paying for the name?

They are to be worn whilst at the rugby on muddy fields and dog walking in wet. Don't mind spending a few quid if they will be comfy and last.

Thanks in advance all.

Several threads on here, and I - with a lot of others, suggest Aigle's

I've walked miles and miles Aigle Parcour Vario's. I've also a pair of the lined ones. Comfy, warm, not as snug however.
Letter wellies are *just* feasible but only after clattered and dragged behind your Land Rover up and down a track of rubble for a day.
(i,e. no spanky and wky)
Aigle's here too.

Just waiting on a pair of Le Chameau Vierzon's too. (I'm a right saddo,)

My Le Chameaus have been great, owned for 6-7yrs probably, mainly worn for shooting or dog walking so not used excessively.

I buy Rigger Boots from Screwfix, they are steel toe capped, waterproof, fleece lined and have a strong thick sole. IMO much better then Wellies on every front.

http://www.screwfix.com/p/hyena-nevis-waterproof-r...

Petrol resistant, water resistant, 200 degree C heat resistant sole, steel midsole, steel toe cap.

I wear these Le Chameau daily during the winter (have owned for 3 years now) and they are still brilliant. Would recommend.

I don't find driving so easy in Rigger boots, compared to my wellies.

Mrs PR likes Hunters, they don't last, pretty crap really.

I don't see the point in expensive wellies. I buy a pair of £10 Dunlops from the market every 18 months or so. The trick is good quality socks. I wear them for dog walking, good for 5-10 miles on muddy days.

This. Hunters are for the pony club set. If this is you, great. If not, save your money. Also Hunters only fit skinny legs.

I gave up wearing wellington boots. My feet always became saturated with sweat despite trying various socks?? What's the trick??

I have a pair of Hunters I bought 8 years ago, they've been brilliant. The reason I bought them is that they were the only pair I could find that could accommodate my calves. My legs are anything but skinny I can assure you! They weren't your bog standard ones though, mine have zips.

The top of the range Hunters are really good, 'Balmoral regency' or something like that, very comfy, neoprene lining so nice and warm, good grip and a classic style, I love mine.

Muck Boots
I have Hunters as well - more wearable for light use - but the quality does not match the name as someone as has commented.

This, my Muckboots Tay Sports have seen me through walking fields in summer & winter, 5 years old now and still as good as new.
