The kudos is a waste of time anyway
Several of my contacts give me kudos for cycling to work and seem to reciprocate amongst each other for steady 45 min spins on Sundays - whats the point?
Ah, I'm glad I'm not the only one, I find it really weird people giving kudos for me cycling to work. Following me must be very boring, same journey twice a day!Several of my contacts give me kudos for cycling to work and seem to reciprocate amongst each other for steady 45 min spins on Sundays - whats the point?
Sorry folks, but I think I'm one of those annoying b
ds who throws Kudos around like confetti at a wedding.
I used to bother sifting and 'judging' the value in giving it, but I've got 300+ followers now, and have somehow ended up following about 200 of them (mainly the ones who live in places like Arizona and Australia, and who post top notch photos of the scenery out there). So I've stopped sifting, and chuck Kudos at anything that comes up in my feed. I even give it for indoor TT rides now, where I used to have a strict rule that it was reserved for "proper" outdoor riding.
Hey, though! Don't take it too seriously folks. I try to draw the line at the "'X' joined a challenge" entries, but even one or two of those slip through occasionally. I think the Kudos counter thing was done away with because there are some folk who seem to actively 'fish' for it. Particularly prevalent in Portuguese speaking countries going by my experience. I've become quite 'chatty' with lots of folk on Strava now, people I've never met, and whom I'm never likely to meet.
The only thing that irritates me about Strava really is the inability to upload photos to an activity without a smart phone or an Instagram account. I'm not working, and spend a lot of time at home or riding my bike, and I really enjoy the sharing aspect of Strava. Especially as it is, aside from PH, my only 'social media' exposure.

I refuse to give kudos for commutes (unless someone has genuinely used it as a training session) or some stupidly short rides. Check out the twitter page stravaw
kers.
I admittedly used to be a KOM chaser on Strava but now use it as somewhere to log miles and see what other people are up to, if I get a KOM then fair enough.

Translation: I used to be a kom chaser, but Strava is more popular now so I'm not fast enough

I have a few followers who give me Kudos for my daily ride to work. They seem to log on every other day so my phone spends 5 minutes buzzing as the notifications come through. I don't mind, I just don't think it's that worthy. I've tried to stop the random folk giving me Kudos for stuff but don't seem to have been awfully successful.
