Retained Fire Service (RDS) Open Evening Preparation
Discussion
Hi all,
I've been looking to join the retained service for some years now and was never able to due to other commitments but now due to relocating I'm ready!
I've registered and my local station is included in the next recruitment which goes live Monday, there is also an open evening at the station 2 weeks from then. The email I've received says the evening will give me a chance to get an idea of the physical and written assessments but I'm wondering if anyone can shed further light on this for me as I want to be as prepared as possible.
Grateful for any advice / assistance.

I've got one next to me at work.
She's incredibly fit, yet she struggled on the physical tests though due to being small and lacking brute force.
I know she had to get her eyesight laser corrected too, made harder by her doing full-contact kick boxing as a hobby
There's a load of other test (confined spaces/heights etc) to do too.
