I was wanting to post a bottle of whisky to a friend in Australia.

Never posted a bottle of whisky in my life. It's been bottled and packed in a wreck proof box in the distillery so that side is covered. As far as I'm led to believe a courier is the solution but who?

Anyone with any input here? I know there will be taxes to pay when it arrives but the recipient is happy with that outlay.

Any information appreciated.

NONE of the large courier companies will touch any fluids, especially flammable ones! Whether for consumption or commercial use......
Best thing is to buy a voucher from a respectable chain (obviously with an Australian contact company) and send that!
I have friends in Stockholm to whom I send Asparagus and wine in season and can only send it by truck as ALL the main couriers x-ray parcels and return anything with fluids or food immediately. They have problems sending me elk and reindeer sausage and lingonberry preserves as they only use couriers.

Oh ste.

Basically posting alcohol is nightmare and nigh on impossible with some companies. It was listed alongside ammunition and human flesh and animal parts. Yet in either country you can go out and buy as much alcohol as you want in some cheap supermarket. What's all that about? A crock of old st that's what it is. It can be done though. I`ll get there.

Why not cut out all the hassle of shipping from the UK and buy it online from a company based in Oz

Quick search in web threw this company up

It's like sending a pint of petrol (except the petrol tastes better biggrin). You can see why they are not keen. (Plus..if it busticates they have about 200 claims on there hands for polluting others' goods)
