Got the bike itch again and thought I'd just jump in at the deep end!

Popped into the local Duke dealership and noticed they have a few new 2004 999's going for £8,500ish...

I know that there have been some revisions for 2005, predominantly the power hick, but was the pre 2005 model bad at all?

I'm thinking a red 999 with Termi's would be a lovely addition with the cars...

PS: Is there/was there ever a reliability problem on these things!?! Never know what to believe nowadays.

Thanks!
Tuan

Go for it dude - and check out www.casoli.com for luverly spangly bling to pimp yo ride

Really don't worry about the reliability rubbish - it's an urban myth & not really an issue with new bikes - yes they need a bit more TLC but thats pretty much it.

How about a 998FE?
Personally i think that these are a better looking bike than the 999s

I assume that you will only be using the bike for pleasure rides?

The look of the 999 is growing on me somewhat...

As gorgeous the 998 is, I think the "9" is a fresher looking bike. The "8" are very much more traditionally shaped. Love or loathe the new design, there's no denying it...

and it is only for fun. If I'm thinking with my head, I really shouldn't buy one at all.

Lovely bike, but from a value for money point of view: £8k for a 3 year old one v's a brand new Duke...

Ideally, I'd like to have a bike that's new. If I got a Duke, I don't think I'd regret buying it over an MV.
