"Live" ignition and associated lights etc????
Discussion
Hi All,
Sorry about the long post but I cannot resist this any longer!
Having just read another post I noticed the OP had his ignition on with associated lights and stereo, mine does nothing!
I just thought that Cerberas didn't have this ignition set up. Should there be a mixed bag of lights, warnings etc with the key turned on without the engine running - like a usual ignition "on" in a "normal" car?
Wait for it....... I get nothing apart from the 2 red lights on the speedo that come on with the engine firing up and go out pretty quickly once the engine starts. I get absolutely nothing once I have used the immobiliser key and turned the cylindrical key to what should be ignition on (apart from my immobiliser led going on timed out). My stereo does not even come on but works fine with the engine on. Also when I turn the engine off with the red button, my stereo goes of even though the cylindrical key is stil "on" in theory. My MIL does not come on either and never has. All the dials work ok and I actually replaced the oil pressure switch within a week of owning the car as it was flickering with the revs (fine since). The fuses are all ok having been individually continuity tested. All of these factors have been the case since I bought the car and I assumed it was normal! Now I'm not so sure.
Others have also mentioned a warning buzzer to change gear.......that would be a luxury....... I have revved the nuts of the car whilst having fun and no buzzers come alive for me!
However, I do seem to have an in built radar detector that "beeps" at me when I am approaching the stationary box speed cameras. You know, the ones usually in the 30 mph zones?
It also seems my car has been readily set up for track days as I also have a big red switch inside the passenger front wing, half way down the engine bay. I have not been brave enough to twist it yet but wil wait until the "Mrs" annoys me and sits in the passenger seat! 😇 I'm also thinking this as my Nitron Suspension is rock hard without any adjustment! Fun
Any thoughts?
Cheers.

If you're talking about the silver key tucked away in the chubby hole, this is designed to be left in the on position permanently.
What should happen is:
Press and release the black button: stereo comes on, along with heater blowers if they are on. This is equivalent to having the ignition on in a normal car.
Disarm the immobiliser by pressing the keyfob button or inserting the black plastic tab in the slot near the silver key. This will cause the MIL beeper to sound continuously and the fuel pump will prime for 1 to 2 seconds. The oil and battery lights on the dash illuminate.
Hold down the black button to start the car.
If you unlock the doors and press the black button within a short time (10s?) there is no need to disarm the immobiliser - the first press of the black button will put the car into "ready to start" state (MIL beeper on continuously).
The gear change beeper doesn't work on my car either, although it used to. This is probably because my rev counter stops when it gets to about 6500 rpm. But even when it worked it was too quiet to be of much use. You can change the volume but I don't like having the indicators super loud.

Thanks fellas, just tried the first press and it works! Obviously the dealer I bought the car off did not have a clue! Also meant i did not have a clue either! Still no "beep" though & forgot to check MIL light.
So, does everybody else leave their silver cylinder key in all of the time? I suppose it makes sense with the immobiliser stopping the car from being started.

The owners handbook is available here. www.tvr-cerbera.co.ukSo, does everybody else leave their silver cylinder key in all of the time? I suppose it makes sense with the immobiliser stopping the car from being started.
I was taking the silver key out as a matter of course - no key no start. Seems strange leaving a key in and seemingly "on" also. Ultimately, would it not be better just ripping the key part out, join the respective wires and be done with it? Or replacing it with a button switch - could be subtlety hidden if need be? It is really fiddly as it is.

See link below thinking of the same thing. Just now deciding on the exact switch I want. My 10c.
