Who's done this, and who wants too?

Your tales please.

I've done it.

Not in one journey but I've been to both in the same year so technically it counts. Is there a record for the slowest? wink

I did it with a group of other Caterham 7 owners back in 2007. Twelve cars in total plus support car and started Saturday morning in Lands End and arrived at John O'Groats on Monday early afternoon. Day 1 was tough as mostly motorway to Manchester to break the back of the trip then Sunday / Monday much better roads especially quieter roads through east coast of Scotland ;-)

Got home on Wednesday afternoon after B&B overnights in Inverness then wonderful place overlooking Jodrell Bank. About 1900 miles in total IIRC.

Land's End is a blot on the landscape. It used to be nice and unspoiled in the 1970's.

Now they have built this concrete monstrosity shopping village.

The planners should be shot.

There's a really fat bloke at work that's done it both ways on a bike, did 100 miles a day and stayed in B&Bs, wouldn't believe it if he hadn't taken pics the whole time so hats off to him.

Don't think I could do it.

Did it back in 2000 by bike with a mate.
No prior training and no real prep, we just got the train to Penzance with road tyres fitted to our mountain bikes.
Neither of us thought we'd crack it and on our first day we covered a pathetic 30 miles and were totally shagged.
Reaching Bristol and then turning North was the point where we realised we might just complete it and towards the end we were smashing well over 100 miles a day, rounding it off with a couple of beers each night.
Took two weeks, which included a day off in the Lakes, and on average we were on the road around 9am, and done by 6pm.
Some days were just mind-numbingly boring with miles of dull bypass, other days were magical trips down a sort of Enid Blytonesque road to yesteryear in tiny villages.
As an alternative type of holiday I'd recommend it.

It truly is awful. They've even cordoned off the Lands End sign and you have to pay if you want a photo next to it.

I've walked it. By myself. And camped all the way.

I'd give cycling it a go. But in a car?? WTF is the achievement in that?

I drove it in 2013.

Left John O Groats at dawn and arrived in Lands End 13hrs later. As I'm a little crazy and wasn't feeling particularly tired I then drove home to Liverpool. Arrived about 2:30am. Looong day. 1,251 miles in a 1985 Scirocco in under 24hrs. Madness with hindsight.

I did a thread on here about it I think.

Round Britain Run, Club Triumph - every two years.

Leave London at 6 on Friday evening, Saturday breakfast is at John O'Groats, Sunday breakfast is at Land's End - back to London for Sunday at 6.

Sadly I've only done it three times.

Can't see any point in driving, there's zero achievement.

Lot of respect for the chap who walked it.

I cycled it, 960 miles, 10 days, camped each night. To be honest, just kept getting fitter as I did it: could have happily turned round and cycled back.

Yes, could only get 2 of the cars in the pic at the end but there were around 15 of us.

I'm not sure what I expected when I first visited Lands End but it wasn't that. I think your description may be on the generous side!

I cycled it in 2014 over 10 days.

And I was the same as you, got fitter each day. I was blessed with saddle sores!
