Just had a good holiday to Cornwall - first time towing with the RS6.

Favourite thought when driving:

If your being overtaken by a caravan - your going too slow..... so many people going 55 in a 70 ffs.

also whats wrong with the twassocks that overtake me when Im doing a cruise control 60 (plus hamster) on the mway and then slow down further up the road and get overtaken by me or a an old JAG xjs overtake me and then go up a hill at 50 and wonder why a van overtakes them......;)

very strong/stable. No issues with the vans weight or ability to pull hard.

of course not as that would be illegal.

I have an A6 3.0 TDI Avant, and I'll set mine up on cruise control at around 70mph. Steady as you like (twin axle though so makes a difference).

Nice car! What did you get to the gallon towing?

What was the MPG? Only reason for asking is that I will soon be changing from towing with my oil burner to my BMW 550 and I would guess the mpg would be similar

about 19mpg at about 60ish on a mway. drooping lower on the smaller roads 15ish. TBH it was a compromise as when having fun in the RS6 I get about 17 ish and whenpoodling about 22-24 even without the van. Its just so nice to have my fast car with me on holidays so when the van is pitched up I can have fun again.

had a 535d and it would be late early 30's towing so about double the mpg roughly. But as say a trip may involve me filling up twice more then normal is about and a tank about £70 so £150 more getting wherever is a price Im happy with to have the fun car on hols.

Genuine question, honest! I see new(ish) caravans being towed by nice cars all the time. These people clearly have a few quid. Why do you insist on spending your holiday in a plastic shed? surely you can all afford a hotel?

OP lovely car. smile

Because different people like different things, it really is as simple as that.

And yes, nice tow car.

Looks like your car is a bit better on fuel than mine. I managed to get 25 on a trip to and from Cornwall (no van), although traffic was bad and get about 17 in town when not pushing it. Guess I am looking at 15-17 then.

I get about 28mpg from our A6 diesel when towing our twin axle. Not too shabby. We actually manage to get from our house to Saumur in the Loire Valley on one tank.

You must be able to see the needle going down with a 550i or RS6 hehe
