If you haven't reported it to your insurance company how would they know about it...?

Driving up a motorway slip road last week somehow a guy managed to run along the side of my car.
How fast was he running??? eek

Sorry, OP, couldn't resist! wink

Regarding the damage, I'd keep schtum and pay it out of your own pocket instead of being ripped off by insurance companies!

£50 says when you claim he will say you hit him. Someone who drives off will lie to save their ass

Ouch...

Did they go report this before you opened the claim?

Good luck in this frown

I didn't claim. The driver went to his nightshift then to the police within 24 hours with his wife. I was on the phone to them when he drove off so knew he'd have to give them a reason for that I suppose.
The fact you're facing two charges would suggest that there's a lot more to this. What charges are you facing?

hongkongdonkey said:
Better than that. Not only that I hit them but that I was threatening and abusive and that's why they drove off. As there are no witnesses to collaborate my version of events my statement means nothing. The story he and his wife agreed before they visited the police the next day is enough to see me face two charges.

hopefully your call to the police will be recorded and show you were in a normal frame of mind, not screaming or shouting and threatening as has been alledged and that might be useful to you.

Careless driving - possibly.

Breach of the peace - not a criminal matter and you would not be dealt with for this after the event, this is used for stopping or preventing a breach that is in progress or imminent. Do you mean a public order offence?

Have you actually been interviewed and reported for these offences or just made aware of the allegations?

His witness isn't independent, does the damage to your car show its obvious what's happened?

Breach of the peace for being threatening and abusive and careless driving for pulling into his lane.
Is the damage to your car on the o/s or n/s ?

Really? You've been charged with those two offences?

I'm still confused. You said something happened and the guy drove away. Next thing you've been charged with two offences and no mention of an interview under caution or any of that, just a straight jump to being charged.

where's the rest of the story?
