The price.

Sorry Barry couldn't resist.

Keep an eye on http://pricespy.co.uk

They regularly have good offers. I narrowly missed out on a Go Pro Hero 4 Black for £199 from Tesco. These are normally £300+

I have the cheap one and it does everything I want it to, No viewing screen and not wireless, I think it then comes down to frame rates per second, cant fault the quality on full HD on mine but I do tend to use it on 720 when on my mountain bike for smother faster footage, I think in a car full HD is fine!

A mate of mine got a cheap copy from China for about £30 and it seems to work fine.

I've just got the basic one and it works just fine and the quality is great.

The added benefit is that (when the hood is up) I mount the universal mounting bracket around the hinge on the passenger rear hood stay - stops it rattling !

I've had a first gen GoPro until it packed up - now have a SJCAM SJ4000 wifi - cost £50

works a treat (better than the firt gen GoPro) - even when diving to 35mtres. I'll post some piccies later - not sure I can post a vid.

I compared this with my mates new MUVI which cost £245 - no discernable difference in photos, but a little better quality can be seen on a monitor with the video.

It has a viewing screen on the rear of the camera, can also wifi to your phone which can see the live recording.

Some chaps in the dive club were impressed so much they have bourght even cheaper Chinese copy at £16.99 on fleabay but I haven't seen any results

Hello Barry,

Sorry I missed you at Burghly I saw you briefly but I was on the phone. Saw your new S on the timeline, looked great.

My advice would be start off with a second hand GoPro 2 Motorsport edition (comes with suction mount) and see how you go from there. Should be well under £100 and it is a great piece on kit. The GP2 is 1080p and still very good quality, plenty of deals to be had on eBay with people upgrading to the later cams. Also comes with an external mic input which the later ones need an adaptor for.

If you like the GoPro 2 then the latest GP4 is better quality with built in screen and wifi is you go for the silver.

You saw my setup at Pod the weekend before last. GP4 on the front and GP2 on the side. The below video you can see the difference between the two. GP4 at the start and from 0.56 seconds onwards GP2.
