Any ideas why this 996 GT3 isn't selling?
Discussion
Its been reduced a few thousand and still not sold. CS with 40k miles and just over £60k.
Should have been snapped up by now?
Does anyone know the car?

maybe because it is a private sale
A private sale would have no bearing on my decision about such a car whatsoever
Looks great value for spec and mileage. Now that you have highlighted this car, I can't see it sticking around much longer. Only negative I can think of is the colour, but that is a subjective matter and may be the perfect colour for someone else.
I think it shows how low the trade offers must be on these, that's been bought and serviced from JZM and is being offered private at £62k, You would imagine JZM must have bid for it to come back into stock and that figure must have been mid 50's to make it worth the hassle of a private sale at this price.
3-4 years ago that would have been £35-£40k
Maybe people think it's a bit toppy..
That kind of money may not buy you a 6gt3 but would buy a lot
of other pork which may not be so focussed but would have a lot
of other things going for it and be at least as fast..
Me? For that kind of money I would rather have a manual 3 year old 991s
from a main dealer with all the comforts and security that brings.

I think you maybe quite unique here Paul, a comfy 991 isn't usually a contender of choice when considering buying a GT3. Maybe people think it's a bit toppy..

Anything with an NA Mezger engine would be a safe place to put your money, not that that's a reason to buy. What this car offers as a driving implement is on another planet compared to the 991. How fast and the fact they both share a manual doesn't even touch the surface as to why the 996 is so special and rewarding.

When car hunting is what's my opportunity cost?
What else can I buy at this price point.
Unless I was after a track car a 3 year old 911
With main dealer warranty would have a lot more appeal to me than a 13 year old 911..
Regarding safe place to park your money?
Maybe but not guaranteed.
P.s I have driven both cars and purely expressing my opinion
Looking through the classifieds, it does look like good value compared to anything else within £5k of it.
There a few other GT3s similarly priced with comparable mileage but all are Comfort Spec cars not Club Sports apart from the Silver 996.1 Club Sport at JZM, which even in LHD looks good value as well with only 29,000 miles and 1 year warranty. Looking at what else this kind of money buys (sticking to GT3 & Turbos as I don't think a Carrera/ Carrera S is comparable to a GT3 in terms of performance or residual value a few years down the line), there is a 996 Turbo S, again at JZM, several nice 997 Turbos but I think you have highlighted a good buy there.
Possible reasons it hasn't sold would certainly be colour, I had a 2004 GT3 in Cobalt Blue and it is stunning but when I came to sell it the colour did hold a few people back; the other thing that I think is more likely to be holding people back from a private sale is the lack of warranty. The reality is that the GT3 is pretty reliable and the things that do go wrong are rarely bank breaking expenses, but people do like a warranty for the comfort of knowing they are protected from unexpected big bills.
A sensible buyer in the market for a 996 Club Sport would have it inspected by a specialist and assuming nothing shows up, try to knock the the price down a bit more and put some cash to one side as a 'just in case' fund, then it is very good buy. With this car you stand a chance of buying a nice club sport under market value, personally if I were in the market for a 996 GT3, I would buy the Silver 996.1 from JZM, an original GT3 Club Sport in Silver with 29,000 miles must be quite a rare car by now and I actually prefer LHD track cars.

Who knows? Maybe the market is turning?
IMHO it's because it's a 6.2 not a 6.1 and because the club sport spec is divisive. One of the advantages of a 6.2 is rear seats - in comfort spec. Plenty of people will buy a comfort spec car and fit buckets and a cage, but a cs has a narrower, albeit arguably stronger for that narrow market, appeal. This car will appeal to investors and track dayers. Perhaps the former are wary of current values and the latter are a limited market at this price?

I would guess the problem with that one is that it's blue which is not sought after.
This one looks lovely -

Poor advert not stating any service dates/miles and what work has been done
Few photos.
Not standard so not for the invested/collector.
I won't go into the £15k refresh but nice adverts by people do tend to list dates and services etc.
With photos of mot's, keys and a massive history file.
996 have seen a drop the last 6 months for sure and you can buy a 997 gt3 for £75k with half the miles.

Agree. If I was spending £60k on something a little detail would go a long way. With photos of mot's, keys and a massive history file.

Had a friend who was looking to sell his 7.1 GT3 to an indy and was getting bids of £50-56k, where they had similar vehicles for sale at £75-80k
Nice looking car though..
Hey guys,
Its my car.
The sales process has been a nightmare. I had lots of dodgy enquiries via email thru PH. The same thing happened when I sold my Scud (and 2 days later the advert was up for half the price with a new phone number). So I haven't been replying to PH emails with links.
The ad also somehow disappeared for a few weeks, and it was only due to a mate telling me he couldn’t see my car for sale that I knew about it. I rang up PH (and after 3 days they got back to me) and they said oh yeah we’ve been having problems like that. Anyway now its back on.
I’m currently I’m working 12 hours a day at a Bank, plus Consulting parttime to a family trust and trying to start a Property Development company so selling the car has not my highest priority. So I need to change that.
The silly thing it’s a quality car that’s always been looked after. Its sitting in my garage on a trickle charger and gets taken out every month to keep everything warmed up. I’ve just been so busy lately I haven’t had the chance to drive it. So that’s my life story.
Oh and don’t even get me started on the Anoraks that ring up wanting to talk about what its like to own a GT3. Or the people that ring up and say, oh youre rich as you have a GT3 can you give me some money. Seriously.
I’m very tempted to give it to JZM on SOR who will probably add £5-8k to the price and it would sell in a week.

Cheers,
BJ

For me the blue would be a desirable colour!
But to the original question, if this car was last sold by JZM it's possible I did a little bit of research on it - there was a similar Cobalt CS for sale @ JZM when I was starting to look at GT3s. Owner at the time was on PH and 911UK. Car looked good and what little I found out was fine although I didn't get there in time to view it.
Can also suggest this car:http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/911-gt3-996/porsche-911-996-gt3-2003/5534298?v=b
No connection but viewed it with a plan to buy, owner changed his mind about selling it but has now put it up again. Car looked good and well looked after
