Hi All

Was hit by a van, nothing too much, but quite annoyed he just drove off... erratically at that.

What are people's thoughts on how this will go for me if I do claim? 50:50, no fault, fault?

Ive watched the video.

It looks like you strayed out of your lane a little by your positioning approaching the roundabout? Cant see the van at the time of impact.

The lorry was indicating left for some time coming off the duel carriageway, and down the slip road - it stopped and you came up the inside. Perhaps he intended to turn left and the indicator self cancelled and didnt see you?

Dont think the video will help you as it doesnt really show much.

thanks superlightr> I was definately in my lane the whole time. at the point of impact I had actually swerved to the left and was just mounting the kerb to avoid him!

MDMA> really need to sort out the time on it. think I just need a new dashcam though. one that can record the sides as well would be helpful here!

Just watched the video, taking the fourth exit from the left lane of a roundabout looked a bit dodgy.

That's what I thought.

Inconclusive watching that, however he did go over the roundabout on his right hand afterwards.

(Nothing to do with your incident though)

Just watched the video and it doesn`t actually show the impact or where the other vehicle came from so I have no opinion on fault, however, taking the fourth exit from the left lane of a roundabout looked a bit dodgy.
think OP may have been going left but decided to follow the van after being hit.

yep, thats the one. I was going for the second(left) exit originally.

Not a hope in hell of it helping.

- The Transit isn't identifiable from the video - what IS the point of a dashcam that doesn't have sufficient quality to read plates?
- The date is clearly wrong.
- The impact isn't shown, just you pulling up next to the Transit then swerving into the kerb as he pulls away.

I'd hope it would go non-fault for you but wouldn't be surprised if it was 50/50.

I'd definitely look at getting a better dashcam as I'm not sure you can make out the reg from the video and a wide angle lens/camera will capture more at the sides which could be useful in this sort of situation.

I see shocking lane discipline like this all the time - so many people just seem to be in their own little world.

Ok. Hard to see from the video. TBH i dont think you did anything wrong. Just annoying a collision occurred. Was it a glancing blow/light damage?

ok thanks all.
I also have some phone pics that show the number plate. you are all right though it is a shocking dashcam. was a £20 purchase several years ago. time to upgrade I think!

for the damage amount unless I could be sure of a no fault it isn't really worth it

to me, no doubt the van hit you. when pulling away from the junction, the overhang on the tipper has clipped you. he has realized this by his action on them riding up the roundabout.

send a copy to your insurance company and see what they say. they say 50/50, say you will go to court over it as you have a witness too.

Have you approached the firm?

Talking to the transport manager might be quicker and easier than anything else.
Don't know if I would mention the dashcam in the first instance.

The point where he then drives over the kerb on the roundabout shows he hasn't got a fking clue where the back of his lorry is, so should help the claim against him I would have thought.
