Valley gasket help please

Just changed my valley gasket as my old one was shot.
Started it up tonight and there was a tapping noise as it warmed up then as the temp came up there was loads of white smoke out of both exhausts.
I shut it off straight away.
Any ideas what I've done wrong?

The inlet manifold includes water passages so it is quite likely some of your coolant went into the inlet ports when you took the inlet off.
Perhaps you should have let it run a little longer to see if it cleared.
It is also possible you do not have a seal on those water passageways and coolant is passing into the inlet port. When I fit these I fir the gasket dry except around the water passageways (both sides of the gasket).

Either way you need to run it a little longer. If it does not clear pull the plugs and see if any of them are steam cleaned.

Err, crank it over a few times with the spark plugs removed and see what happens.

Water being squirted out of the spark plug holes. Disconnect the injectors otherwise you may see petrol.

Sounds like coolant to me too that will smoke heavy white (drain the block next time by removing water-pump lower hose) just unplug the ign module if you dont want the inj's to fire whilst cranking (no spark no inj duration) to clear the cylinders
