Not exclusive to Porsche, but as this is where I spend my time, and is regarding whether I should get PPF on my GT4 when it arrives, I thought I'd ask.
Just interested to know who has had PPF done recently and did you go for just the main impact areas, or the full kit? How is it responding so far and would you do it again? Would anyone be willing to disclose the sort of prices involved (don't need recommendations at this stage); I've been offered full detail and full PPF kit by one of the UK's best, at my OPC prior to delivery but they are asking £5k all in!
In an ideal world I'd love to get it done, chances are my car will be outside most/all of the time, and I remember from over the years that I got sick of having to clear debris and bird jizz from it daily; plus I want to eliminate most of the stress of worrying about the condition of the paint and just enjoy driving it, but at £5k, hmmm, that is a lot of paint repairs I can have done to cover imperfections and stone chips!

Had the front of my 1M done including various other high-risk locations and it cost me around £600. Factor in a full day with one of the better detailers (on a brand new car it really shouldn't need more than a day) and that will cost between £500 - £750 dependent on products used. Basic maths doesn't equal £5k!
On the 1M I personally didn't like the PPF, yes it protects it from stone-chips but I prefer cars without the film. I'm no polishing geek but polishing a car with PPF gives no satisfaction whatsoever and I found that it could mark / scratch quite easily if you were ever a little heavy handed. My advice would be YES get it detailed as the factory paint can be atrocious but NO to the PPF. Save the money and if you insist on following cars too closely and picking up excessive stone chips simply get the bumper/bonnet painted as and when.
I'm sure others will agree / disagree and fortunately its your decision, not mine LOL

haha, I have no time for polishing anymore, so PPF would be to preserve the conditioned paint underneath. Detailing goes without saying, but PPF is a new one on me, but I believe that the self-healing properties are very good now to avoid swirls and minor scratches. Just need to get the price down...alot! Welcome more views, good and bad on price and how decent it is in practise. Is PPF like insurances; you buy it for peace of mind but rarely does it yield benefits to counter the cost!
If it's a "keeper" and you intend to track it , then PPF
If it's a "keeper" but no track work then maybe Front bumper,bonnet and side air intakes.
I wouldn't bother with a detail except for wheels if they are on steels.

Detail is a must, always from new, I know how bad they are on arrival. PPF is up for debate, I'll be keeping the car 12-24 months, no track use, just countryside hooning! PPF is as much about me avoiding worrying about it than anything else, but I do like the thought of the protection, though not at that price!
