After years of jacks and axle stands etc and taking an hour to get the car lifted to the height I like I have finally ordered a lift.
I went for the Automotech AS-7530D as pictured here:

Obviously that's not my car.
A weekend working on the car now booked!

Hi G5FTH, you will not be disappointed with a low level scissor lift. I went for the Strongman Tools version, ordered it at the NEC Classic Car Show last year, was able to inspect it thoroughly.

A word of advice though, check it comes with cross bars that go across the platforms front and back! The chassis rails and hence the lifting points on the Griff are narrow, the scissor lifts rely on placing the rubber blocks on the platforms lifting up on a wider spacing! I actually made two cross bars out of some box section and plate, this enabled me to place the rubber blocks exactly where required on the chassis rails. It may be that the one you ordered has such cross bars!

My lift was brilliant to use over the Winter, lifted Griff 1metre, which was great to work under wheel arches and best of all changing the oil and filter were a doddle! Treat yourself to one of the low wheeled stills, you can then sit on it and wheel yourself around the car! Enjoy - Pete

I don't think it has cross rails so I might take your advice and make some up.
I looked at a few of these lifts and eventually chose this one because it has pneumatic locks as well as the hydraulic parachute valves.
It was also recommended by a griff owner on here.

It looks identical to mine, with the pneumatic locks etc. If you want a picture of my cross bars let me know, I had them powder coated in black to protect them. Also worth knowing is that with the Griffs, which are very low, you will need wooden 'lead-in, lead-off' pieces! I initially used a couple of pieces of old scaffold board on each corner (approx. 500mm long) to give extra lift to locate the rubber supports on the cross bars and ensure my front splitter did not rub. I now have some nice corner ramp blocks made from 1" ply. Its a great bit of kit that you will wonder how you ever did without! All the best, Pete

Hi Pete,
A photo of the cross bars and lead in ramps would be helpful - thanks.
