Hi all, first time posting in this section. I’m having a bit of a difficult situation at work and here is the short version

July 15
A restructure meant my old role was redundant and I had to apply for an expanded version of the role which meant more work but more pay

August 15,
Interviews took place and I was selected for the role.

November 15,
New role started but I was paid my old rate

February 16
Made a grievance to HR and my line manager asking where my pay is and they said it would be investigated

March 16
Meeting with HR to prove the value of my role and find out more information.

April 16
HR confirmed I would not be receiving my increased salary and was expected to carry on with the heavier and more stressful work load

I’m at a bit of a loss as to what to do at the moment. I have been advised by several colleagues to go down the employment tribunal route but am unsure as to what to do?

Any advice?

Do you have anything in writing such as a formal job offer or your contract which states your salary?

This.

Otherwise, time to find a new job.

What do you want to do about it? How much hassle do you want to give them?

Pretty sure you could drag them through all sorts of legal hell if you have the contracts and paperwork to back you up... legally they have no leg to stand on? Although IANAL applies.

Take them to tribunal or find a new job.

Part of the problem here is what losses will be suffered....

Hi all, thanks for the supplies.Tribunal is highly tempting with regards to finances owed. But I do have concerns about long term employment chances with that on my record if I go down that route. I have a meeting with senior management early next week to discuss further.

I will keep the thread updated ;-)

Re April 16th, what reason did HR give for not paying the increase?

Tribunal is the best option mate.
They cant fire you for it and due to your length of service you'll get a hefty payout, probably enough to retire.

Future.employers dont need to be aware of you being through a tribunal process and the old company cant say anything which would jeopardise your newjob.

I wouldn't take advice from randoms over the internet...

Doesn't your workplace have a union? Worth having a chat/joining for issues like this.

+1. Don't go the tribunal route unless you can not avoid it

If they fired you as a result of taking legal action against them, for their breach of contract, you would be in a position to sue the ste out of them.

IANAL but i do live with one. :-)

If the guy has been there 10 years, he could easily only be 26!
