The public can be kind
Discussion
A few weeks back a fellow PH poster put a thread up about someone who was wanting to jump from a bridge I believe, and mentioned cars driving past without stopping/seeing if they can help and even someone who stood there recording it.
Following on from that, not all hope is lost in the world after what I saw yesterday. While on my way home at about 09:30pm an elderly person was crossing the road in front of me about 300 metres away quite slowly, they saw me driving up the hill (within the speed limit) and decided to walk faster, sadly they tripped on the curb and fell. I saw them hold the side of the head as I drove past but by this time, the brakes had already been applied and I stopped in the closest, safest spot available.
By the time me and my wife had walked to the elderly gentleman (about a 15 second walk), 2 other cars behind me had stopped and the occupants of those vehicles were out of the car and asking the gentleman if they are ok, he seemed a bit dazed while sitting on the floor. The other folks helped him up and we made sure he was ok (looked like he had a small cut on a finger) and then the taxi driver/passenger in said vehicle offered to take him home and make sure anyone within the house they live with know of his fall and to keep an eye on him.
There were a few car's that did drive past and see what was happening but there were enough of us there to make sure he was ok.
Possible cool story bro, attention seeking etc thread, but just wanted to post this as not everyone we come across is selfish and only worried about themselves.

The biblical story of the good samaritan is inherently racist.
It works on a presumption that the stereotyped prejudiced view of the Samaritans held by the Jews (Israelites) was inherently correct and that the "good" Samaritan was something to be unexpected, Jesus in his telling of the parable attempted to explain that all are our "neighbours" and rather than praising the Samaritan for his act of kindness he rather focused on admonishing the Israelite Priest and Levite for their conduct in ignoring the injured man, thus also creating a stereotyped view of Priests and Levites rather than taking the time to enquire or explain individual motivations - I mean they may have been late for a meeting or bursting for a s
t?
But anyway well done you...
