Hi Guys,

Considering a Leon Cupra 1.8 20v not the 'R'. Is it me or are these a real performance bargain? Prices seem to be around the £1,800 - 2 grand mark for 90 - 100k miles. I know coil packs are an issue but as long as the cambelt and water pump have been done then is there anything else to worry about apart from the wear and tear items?

The low prices are almost putting me off, as I'm thinking there's a reason for it! Especially when a similarly aged Civic ep3 type r is still fetching around 3.5k!

Thanks all.

You should compare a Cupra R to a Type R and find the prices are similar.

Standard 180hp Cupras have been 1-2k cars for years now.

they are a bargain to have, they have their issues like you say but providing they have been looked after you can have them for this price. Rods are not great on them but thats boost spikes so more likely when tuned, oh and they tune very nicely as well

Blocked drainage holes and leaky door seals are common issues too.
