Hi all

Been reading the site for a while and week before last I brought my first Ferrari, a 348.

Very happy with it but tonight the AC stopped working and I got an "E8" on the left display. Owners book says ask dealer - great help eh.

Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks

Or a fuse/ circuit breaker. I beleive that code E8 is Heating system related.

Thanx

As I said, car is new to me. Where are the fuses and the ac pump?

I assume they are the fuses at the front. Going into the garage to investigate now.

Thanks, From the hand book the fuse for the AC is in the front boot area and was ok. System works for the first few minutes but just when the engine has warmed up and you expect the blower to start, the E8 message comes up.

Can see any belts that have fallen off, is an AWOL belt common?

AWOL belt isn't common but tensioner bearing failure is not uncommon!, which would throw the belt off.

you should hear quite a distinctive clunk and the engine revs will drop if the compressor is kicing in.

if it appears to work for 1st bit then stops I would suspect the gas is overpressurising, this is caused by heat, maybe the cooling fan should be coming on (can't remember if it's the left or right fan)

Mine does this occassionally, at will and completely randomly. The clock won't stay set either. Although mine will come back on again if you turn it off then back on. Like I said, sometimes no problem for weeks, sometimes it does it half a dozen times in an hour

I just put it down to Italian electrics on an 11 year old car!

Though it is currently at Gray Paul for a service (and what a b@st@rd Nottingham is to get back to Leeds from!!!!) and I asked them to see if they could spot anything obvious.

Use to have the same problem on mine. It was all right after stopping and stating the engine again.

Never found out what it was

Thanx all

I've found the same thing, leave it and it goes away. I guess it is 14 year old electrics after all.

Have similar quirk with the indicators, sometimes the I get the turning indicator below the speedo and sometime I don't. oh well at least the engine is great.

I had the same problem with mine - just ignore it as I was told the indicator light circuit was at fault, not the actual thing it is trying to tell you has gone wrong. Doh!

Just spoken to Gray Paul about this. You can get re-con units for about £350 but... if you unscrew the stainless steel gear lever gate and leave it loose, undo the ashtray screw, then the whole climate control pod should slide forward revealing the electrical connector to the unit. Undo, give a good blow or brush to clean it out then re-connect. Should be good until the next time it comes loose or a bit of fluff gets in there.

I'm going to try it anyway. Apparently you can also get some "good connection" type spray?
