924 turbo

Hi. I have a 924 turbo on a w thats been garaged for 24 years. ive started work on it, belts leads etc. on taking off the cam cover, the bottom crank will not move. i havent put the new belt on yet. how much pressure should i try n use to get the crank turning??

Do you know why it's not been moved for 24 years? (I assume that's what you meant?)

can it be moved? ie is the cutch disengaged?? If its stuck on, you're trying to move the whole car which is very hard.

if not, then remove the spark plugs and get a socket on the crank nut. You should be able to turn it over. There will be resistance, but you should be able to do it.

I assume he means he wants to know how much pressure to get the crank turning, as the bottom crank will not move.

(I don't know the way the cams interact with that engine) but if an engine won't turn I'd put it into gear and try and rock it gently, and as said above take the plugs out first.

If it has any wheels on it with inflated tyres....

The 931 is a non interference engine so you won't damage valves etc by turning it over even if timing/cam had issues which lead to it being taken off the road originally.

I can't help with the original question, I'm afraid but I really hope that you can get the problems sorted and the car on the road again. Great, and much underated cars.
