You need to swap your insurance over to his car, not use his insurance.
Same with yours, he needs to swap his insurance over.
Otherwise he is only insured 3rd party, can he afford to pay you himself if he writes your Evoque off?
So it is whether your insurer will cover you? If not you need to find some short term insurance from somewhere. That will be pricey though, in fact I have often found it cheaper to insure for the whole year with someone on the couple of occasions I have done it.

Set it up and cancel it after the 'borrow'. Some companies give you 14 days to change your mind and they'll refund all bar the time used in most cases, or as in the case of mine will refund 100%. Just say you found it cheaper elsewhere.
