Hi there,

I am starting my search for a 997 3.8s, have a budget of around 25k maybe a bit more
for the right car,

I am after the switchable exhaust, now when people put on the advert "sports exhaust"
does these usually mean switchable for the noise etc or is this standard on the "S" model?

Also can the hard back for the sports seats be retro fitted??

Many thanks

Russ

Porsche Sports Exhaust or PSE is the proper term. Check the tailpipes. Oo oO

thanks magic, so if it has those pipes then there is a switch in the car to change the
note?

Generally, yes. But don't take that as read as it could just have sports tail pipes. The best way of confirming is to look for the switch on the centre console.

There are cars with the ghetto retrofit, so no switch.

Check the option code in maintenance manual or sticker on bonnet. Something like XLF or 176, otherwise it's after-market exhaust (unless retro-fit). Should be possible to retro-fit sports seats or anything within reason.

Hi,
I have a 997.1 4s with PSE. However, when I got the car I was told the valve had stuck in the sports position and the switch wouldn't work. The other week the exhaust went quiet so am assuming it has switched back?
Is it worth getting this fixed or replaced or is their better after markets out there that give a better sound?
I don't feel I'm getting a proper sports car sound from a car that it's expected as a given.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I may get this a little wrong... But I think if the car has sports chrono, the sport button activates the exhaust, alters the throttle sensitivity and stiffens the dampers. So there isn't a specific exhaust button. Mines like this, I think it's because of the sports chrono option, but it might just be the normal S model PASM setup...

If you have Sports Chrono and PSE then pressing the chrono button also activates the PSE. PASM is independantly switched irrespective of other options fitted.
