Well i was lucky that the bolt in the pod never came out...There is a bit of distortion on the bolt fixing on the other side that has caused this..

Bit of a bummer but could of been worst, Just need to centralise the pod.

Jacked her up to check for any underside damage but thankfully i think the exhaust saved me...

There was a bit too much play in the wheel bearing so nipped it up and the rumble has gone at low speeds but will need to test at a higher speed.
Couldn't get the other wheel off as the nuts were too tight....(Said the actress to the bishop).

Found this on the inside of the pod...Tickled me...

Someone must of been getting a hard time at the factory....

Jet wash tomorrow to remove the caked up wheel arches....

Cheers

My dad was an engineer by training and he learned it in school (1944) as "Illegitimi non carborundum"

The version we had in Manchester was "Nil Carborundum Illegitimi" which I think rolls off the tongue easier ? ?

and I also remember -

Cogito, ergo doleo [I think, therefore I am depressed]

Sic faciunt omnes [ But Everyone else is doing it ! ]

Et irrumabo solem [ F**k that, sunshine!] ( Yeah, OK, I checked that one, I couldn't rememeber the verb)

But then, when I were a lad, I went to a POSH school..... we were actually taught Latin

That just gave me a memory of "Life of Brian" with the "Romans go home" sketch, cracks me up every time I watch it ....

If you got a rumble, chances are you will need new wheel bearings before too long - even slack ones should not rumble....

What have you been upto Zig, poor Poppy

Its best to have the pivot bolts in the pods wire locked to stop them coming loss plus if the wheel bearings are starting to rumble they are probably on the way out.

Hi mate...Well i went to check out the venue for this years Wedgefest and nearly didn't have a Wedge....

The pod must of worked itself loose...To be fair i normally service the pods once a month and haven't had an issue with the for the 3 years I've owned her...Lock wires will be fitted...

Ended up with a chipped windscreen from a stone off of a lorry's wheel...(can't upload pics at the mo?)...Slammed down a pothole along a mud track that was over a foot deep...But i was saved by the fact it was mud...Soft mud...I nearly didn't get out of there...Im wondering if the mud caused the rumbling...It could of been Wedged...(Pardon the pun) between the exhaust and chassis...The wheel arches have a layer 2" thick of bog mud inside them ..I managed to get most of it out today but maybe some of it was rubbing on the wheel...At one point on the journey home whilst travelling at 70mph with the roof off i heard a loud gushing noise in the cabin and then smelt burning rubber...I pulled over but there was no damage...Could of been the mud sizzling on the exhaust...

Hopefully the screen can be repaired.... frown

Please note that Wedges are no good for off roading...

I always knew it as 'Nil permisit carborundum illegitimi'... went to the local comp. and had to stick Latin for 4 bloody years.

Caesar ad sum iam forte
Brutus et erat
Caesar sic in omnibus
Brutus sic in at

...is about all I can remember biggrin
Oh, and Caecilius ambulabating in the horto with Metella. If anyone else recalls the Cambridge Latin course, my tutor was one of the guys who wrote it (only five years before he was teaching it to us). His other claim to fame was as spokesman for the local branch of Transport 2000 whose main aim was to ban the car - presumably by that date rolleyes

From my 'old school' education, I do remember "Gallia est omnis divisa in partes tres...". But after 13 years of French, 5(+?) years of Latin and 2 years of Greek, that's about it. Much prefer dealing in English (well "American" I'm sure you would say). And while I can do the technical conversions, I still have no inherent sense of metric units. rolleyes

Well UK used to have a sort of skitzoid relationship when I was there, not sure now, but some old stuff (cars) still in imperial, and pints, gallons, miles still exist today (and UK gallon not same as US gallon !) ...

Here in NZ everything is metric, imperial is shunned, even for classic cars, but old engineers still know what an inch is, and classic car owners mention "miles per gallon" in low tones in case they get caught smile

And those old recipes in teaspoons and tablespoons and cups and pounds need MATHS to get right confused

(Can anyone under 40 do English coins ? Penny, florin, shilling, half crown, sovereign, etc ?)

I can remember most conversion factors off the bat .... cubic inches to cc, inches to mm, etc.
l/100km to mpg is harder .....

I always say, if it's working, leave it well alone. If it stops working, take it appart and give it the full treatment.
