Hi mate
Ive only ever owned a DHC and as much as i love the FHC I'm sure hot summer days may be the telling factor.
The only advice i can really give is to buy the best you can as even these need regular fettling...If you buy cheap its not always a bargain!...Although in the great scheme of things they are under valued.
Don't be sold buy the sound..Drive it ...Fall in love with it...Then come along to this years Wedgefest to meet the Wedge fraternity and have a fabulous weekend...

I'll start off by saying that I can't remember the last time I saw a V8 FHC for sale. They are very rare especially in good condition. If you do find one, you are likely to confuse the owners phone number with the asking price. They are not cheap, but they do look very nice. In my opinion, nicer than the DHC. However, the DHC is good in the summer and tough I've never owned a V8 FHC, I would imagine it could get a bit stuffy in the cabin during the winter months with a huge, hot, V8 under the bonnet and usually no air con.

Nice red 350i Series 2 up for grabs at DG sportscars....Seat could do with a clean and feed...Bit of TLC in the engine department...May be at this current time a tad over priced...But overheads probably cause that!.
A nice presentable Wedge if you want to stretch a couple of years forward in the search criteria?....
Or
If you have a healthy budget and cannot suffer two but can one year then there is a beautiful 1987 SEAC that was made specifically for the 1987 motorshow a really special car at a realistic price...
(Please note that the sale of either of these vehicles are NOT connected to me or anyone i know)
Hope this helps...

Its also this months calendar pin-up...
I hope you win it Ron...Once you drive a bigger V8 then i should imagine there is no going back...When Chris let me drive the Gredge it was only a slow poodle in the park and I'm glad it was just that or i would be wanting to scratch that itch....(Sorry Poppy).....

Mark, what calendar you looking at again, it must be the desk type calendar as my wall calendar definitely has my car on as this month

Personally I love the FHC Wedges, visually it would be my choice. But I know they aren't everyone's taste. And top down motoring can be very fun in the summer, although I've always found with all convertibles that the wind noise drowns out the exhaust far too easily once you get to 50mph or so, while coupes allow you to listen to the exhaust for longer.
As for V8 powered Wedges, if you fancy keeping options open, remember there was another British RWD sports car that meets this description. Even uses the same gearbox and can be had in FHC or DHC. But arguably has a much richer motorsport history, including rallying success in the USA and in the British Championship, very successful circuit car and even entered into the Le Mans 24hrs.
