Hello all, can anyone tell me if they have attempted trailering a race car through Switzerland on their way to Italy if there any issue Swiss borders and vignettes?

I have a large long wheelbase Iveco (regular 2 axle, 3.5t) and a covered large trailer with touring car on board - so over 3 tons gross train mass (prob 4 tons in total approx).

I've heard that the border control can be an issue and regular van vignette will not apply, and that heavy good vehicle charges will be in effect.

I usually drive this way rather that through France to avoid expensive peage/tunnel charges, but never have with this particular van and never with a trailer too. thx

Vignette for the van on screen as usual, plus one for the trailer- stuck on the outside of trailer, as long as it's a 3.5t van that's all you need, docs for the racecar would be handy tho for an awkward customs man or copper.

Couple of notes on this from experience:

1) Vignettes for both van and trailer as discussed
2) Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork. My race car has a Swiss passport which I have with me when I cross the border - they then check the car that it is the right one (usually visual, never as far as lifting the bonnet to check chassis number) and also that I'm not bringing a dozen illegals!!

The second part is trickier with a car that doesn't have an FIA Wagenpass (Car passport)
